MBR Systems

MEMBRANE BIOREACTORS
They are biological treatment facilities that combine activated sludge process with submerged membrane filtration. In this system, final settling tanks are replaced by membrane units. The advantages of MBR systems are the complete removal of solids, significant bacterial removal, high rate and high efficiency organic matter removal and a small footprint.

The MBR process can be configured in many different configurations depending on the nutrient removal goals of the particular project. According to the requested limit nitrate and total nitrogen values after treatment; Before and after the aeration process, the Anoxic process can be used for nitrogen removal. Since ESLI requires less energy and has less clogging potential; prefers submerged type system configurations. In submerged applications, water is drawn from the membrane by applying suction force with a vacuum pump, while the sludge is retained on the membrane surface.

MBR membrane modules are made of Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) material and consist of a capillary porous - fiber void structure. The ventilation injectors are placed in the middle of the module to completely clean the module lengthwise and reduce energy consumption. The single collection structure design reduces energy consumption, increases flux, and minimizes the downtime and space occupied by the system due to malfunction. MBR treatment plants can be applied in a wide capacity range. ESLI can design systems with a capacity of up to 1000 m3/day.
